TEST MATCH RETURN COMPLETED

Hilfy’s long awaited return to Test cricket is complete. I decided to stall the feedback article in case he decided to get another injury while the Australian cricketers head into a bit of a hiatus. We even have a tag category for his injuries. No injuries reported, yet.

The 2nd Test was a shocker for the Baggy Green as Pakistan made history, winning their first Test against us since 1995. Took them a while. For general cricket feedback always check out the Baggy Green Blogsite.
As for Hilfy’s series, he did a decent job as he made his comeback. While … Continue Reading

HILFY THROWING THE BLADE OUT IN STYLE

As I type this, The Baggy Green are trying their utmost best to salvage whatever runs we can to set Pakistan some kind of a daunting target in the 2nd Test. The lead is 136, with Steven Smith and Hilfy braving the elements. Alot of pressure for a tail-ender to come out in these circumstances, but I’m enjoying the challenge out there for the Baggy Green, believe it or not!

Hilfy has just bashed Mohammed Aamer (who’s really impressive) for three boundaries in the over, with elegant stroke play, nothing poor in these shots. Send Hilfy above Mitch in the batting … Continue Reading

A TOUGH DAY AT THE OFFICE

The champ was passed fit for the Headingly Test, which hasn’t started off well at all. After being dismissed for a very disheartening 88 all out at Headingly, which is generally a good hunting ground for the Baggy Green, it wasn’t easy going for our bowlers either. Tim Paine batted alongside Hilfy and we needed another partnership similar to the one they put together at Lord’s last week. Unfortunately Hilfy was run-out.

Last year during the Ashes Hilfy took 5 wickets at Headingly. After all the swing we saw from the Pakistani bowlers, Hilfy was the guy they would have been … Continue Reading

ANOTHER INJURY WORRY

Hilfy was the leader of our seam trio for the victory against Pakistan by 15o runs, at Lord’s Cricket Ground. He returned match figures of 3-74, dismissing the top order with all three wicket. He was consistent, disciplined and patient in his execution with his outswinger, and even when the swing went, he kept it simple and definitely gave us the edge! But while fielding on the final day, he dived to stop a ball at third man and bust his shoulder. He was in pain immediately, so as you can imagine, all of us who have waited for the … Continue Reading

A MAIDEN HALF-CENTURY AT LORD’S

A little under a month after scoring a maiden First-class half-century for Australia A, HHilfy's wagonwheelilfy has achieved something even better! An unbeaten half-century for the Baggy Green at Lord’s cricket ground. For a number 10 batsman, outstanding, and I was cheering like crazy when he got there! Initially his role was to support Tim Paine to steer our lead forward but after Tim departed for a well played 47, Hilfy made the moment his.

He played his pull shots with power and style … Continue Reading

HILFY DELIVERS A FINE OPENING SPELL

You could sense the nerves, but Hilfy set our bowlers up as they demolished Pakistan for under 150 runs. Hilfy bowled an impressive opening spell, using his outswinger effectively while the conditions worked in his favor. He returned bowling figures of 2-37 and sent down 12 overs of which 2 were maiden overs. Great job Hilfy!

He dismissed two of the Pakistani top order batsmen and it was fantastic to see him back in action with the red ball for the Baggy Green. As I type this he is batting with fellow Tasmanian Tim Paine, who is on debut and kept … Continue Reading

GOOD LUCK TO HILFY & THE BAGGY GREEN

The 1st Test is against Pakistan tomorrow at the home of cricket, Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Hilfy is set to make his return as Ryan Harris has had to undergo knee surgery. Such a shame cause Ryano has become a crucial member of our ODI team, but for the Tests, we fortunately have Hilfy back in action. Three Tasmanian’s will represent the Baggy Green tomorrow, assuming Hilfy, Tim Paine and Ricky Ponting all head out onto the playing field. Tim will be receiving his Baggy Green, what number will it be? We’ll wait and see with Steven Smith on the verge of … Continue Reading

THE WARM-UP GAME IS COMPLETE

For some informal match feedback have a check at the blogsite. The 2 day game against Derbyshire ended as a draw.

As for Hilfy, he didn’t get a half-century but he’s saving the batting duties for Pakistan! Himself and Doug Bollinger just did the tail-ender thing for this game. As for the bowling, it wasn’t an easy day for our bowlers and they had to graft really hard. Hilfy picked up a wicket in the end, but while the wicket taking margin doesn’t indicate much, the most important thing is that his bowling figures were economical, as where Mitchell Johnson’s, … Continue Reading

WELCOME TO HILFY407.net VERSION 2

AUSTRALIA A WIN THE SERIES 2-0

Australia A have beaten Sri-Lanka in the two matches played in Queensland, and it also completes the return for Ben Hilfenhaus.
Hilfy had a good series where he performed with both the bat and ball.
After delivering an awesome performance with the bat in the first game where he scored 42 and 50, he then wrapped up the Sri-Lankan A 2nd innings in the 1st game with a 5 wicket haul.
The second game was dominated by our batsman, but Hilfy still chipped in with 4 wickets for the game, of which three came in the second innings.
It was enough to secure a call-up … Continue Reading
